When is Maspalomas Gay Pride 2024?
Do you have your diary to hand? Maspalomas Gay Pride 2024 is held on Thursday, the 2nd of May, until Sunday, the 12th of May. So, this town in the Canaries gets ready before the 28th of June, International Pride Day, and opens the European season.
Book the big day or all ten days of Maspalomas Pride. The main event is the second Saturday in May with the Great Float Parade. A unique moment to defend the rights of a community that unites different identities, gender expressions and sexual orientations.
Who is organising Maspalomas Pride in 2024?
Organised by Freedom Asociación LGTB since 2001, this celebration has gained supporters year after year. In fact, over 120,000 people attended the parade in 2023.
Freedom is the heart of the LGTBIQA+ community in the town. This association is made up of a wide and varied group of companies and professionals based in Maspalomas, which have organised events as renowned as Pride. Thanks to their work, they have made this beautiful place in the Canaries a benchmark for the community they represent.
Where is Gay Pride held in Maspalomas?
This commemoration is a meeting point for tourists and locals in the middle of Spring. Maspalomas, one of the community’s favourite destinations, welcomes thousands of supporters and fans demanding freedom and acceptance in a nice, festive atmosphere.
Where are the essential spots? Maspalomas Gay Pride moves with love, freedom and ease through the well-known Yumbo Center and the popular Playa del Inglés. You can enjoy nice, entertaining nights in your favourite bars in the only LGTBI shopping centre in the world.
The main stage will be erected there. A space that, for 11 nights, will host live performances, shows and pop and house music. It will also be surrounded by the Freedom association bars, where you can sample some exquisite, refreshing drinks.
When is the parade and what activities are there in Maspalomas Gay Pride 2024?
The main element of this great activist party is the parade, which lasts five hours and will gather 23 floats and thousands of people. It will leave from the Riu Palace hotel and continue along Tirajana avenue, passing through Axel Beach Maspalomas before reaching the Yumbo Center. There, you can be part of the official Pride party alongside locals and foreigners.
Like every year, Partido de la Libertad (Freedom Party) and Maspalomas Pride organise prominent events at the heart of Pride. One of these is Dirty West. Held in Sioux City park, you’ll find very good-looking people, food trucks, bars, international DJs and artists who perform live.
It’s a replica of a town in the American Wild West. It hosts cowboy parties, barbeques and dancing. In this Western atmosphere, you can go to different shows where you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of the old town in an American city.
Another great part of this annual LGTBI gathering are the pool parties. One example is the so-called “Wet & Hairy” party at Axel Hotel Beach. You can join hundreds of people in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy an afternoon in the sun. And all the while surrounded by good music and an entertaining setting.
